Compare usable surface, thickness, cold handling weight and the space left for your loaf.
Measure the usable rack support, door opening and the clearances in your oven manual. The Original’s 16 × 14 in footprint, the Plus’s 15 × 20 in footprint and the Pro’s 16 × 16 in footprint are materially different. A nominal standard oven is not a measurement.
For a compact oven, a smaller footprint can be more useful than added thickness. For several loaves, check their shaped footprints and spacing without assuming a manufacturer’s loaf count applies to every size. For an oven used for other dishes, plan where the steel goes when removed.
Total steel weight matters when placing and storing it cold. It is separate from the lid weight in a covered bake. Do not report a steel as a zero-weight object just because it stays in place. Check the oven’s rack-load specification before adding heavy equipment.
The Original is listed at 15 lb on its current exact product page; a separate manufacturer FAQ has stated 16 lb. The product record preserves this discrepancy. If a one-pound difference changes your choice, obtain the current exact-model weight before buying.
A bare steel surface needs the cleaning, thorough drying and seasoning steps in its own instructions. Keep the product’s preheat guidance separate from a measured baking result: thickness and weight do not let this tool predict your loaf’s browning.

Choose a scoring and loading method that suits the vessel’s opening, then prepare cooling and storage before preheating.
